The Rush City/Pine City/Hinckley-Finlayson girl gymnasts continued their winning streak when they traveled to St. Paul Dec. 22 and defeated the North Polars 133.45-127.
“Seventh grader Katelyn Meier had awesome meet, outdoing her last,” said Coach Dianne Meier. “She has come on strong and continued to improve. Third on vault (8.725). This was her best vault this season. Third on beam (8.3) and fifth in all-around (32.2). Cassidy Dunkley hit great routines on vault (9.025), first place and bars (8.45), first. Michelle Graff also had strong performances on vault, second (8.975), third on bars (8.1), first on floor (8.875) and won the all-around. She has been a great leader and captain. This was a very tough meet for us as it was our third meet in eight days.
"The girls were worn out in addition to the fact that Cassidy Dunkley was competing with a terrible case of the flu and Alecia Meier’s battle with her knee injury was really taking its toll from a tough week. We are looking to come back after break and score our season high.“
The junior varsity Tiger team also won the meet beating North 114.45 -95.65, giving them a 2-1 record.
“Amazing performances by Melissa Farrand, Bethany Cummings, Bailey Mollberg, and Justyne Feigum,” said Coach Meier. “These four led the team to their season best score. Melissa broke the JV all-around score record taking first (30.4) with a second on bars (6.9), first on beam (8.1), first on floor (7.5). Justyne was first on vault (8.2), fourth on beam (7.0), second on floor (7.4). Bailey was third on vault (8.0), second on beam (7.5), second on floor (7.4). Bethany took fourth on vault (7.95), first on bars (7.1), second on beam (7.5), fourth on floor (7.0) and second in all-around (27.55).”
The Rush City/Pine City/ Hinckley-Finlayson girl gymnastics team now has a 3-0 overall record.
