The Apple Valley girls golf team finished up the season with a sixth-place finish at the Section 3AAA tournament at Phalen Golf Course on May 22.
The girls finished with a combined score of 373, which was less than 10 strokes behind Eastview and 11 strokes ahead of Hastings.
“I was pleased with our scores at the section tournament,” coach John Christiansen said.
The team improved from its Lake Conference tournament score of 381 to 373 at sections.
Lisa Ruff led the team with an 87. Hannah Hanlon had a 90, Taylor
Barsness a 97, Tara Gundberg a 99, Christina Barth a 102 and Kristi
Anderson carded 107.
“All the girls shot better this time around at the section tournament,” Christiansen said.
Overall, this season was a better than the seasons Apple Valley has had in the past.
“We moved up a couple spots in the conference standings and hope to
continue in that direction next year,” Christiansen said. “All in all
I was happy about the season and am looking forward to next season to
see where we finish and if we can continue to move up in the Lake
Conference.”
<b>Eastview girls golf</b>
The Eastview girls golf team placed fifth out of 11 teams at the Section 3AAA tournament May 22.
The girls combined for a 364 team score at the Phalen Golf Course in
Maplewood. Woodbury won with 314 beating everyone by nearly 20 strokes.
The Lightning finished ahead of Apple Valley but behind Rosemount, Eagan and Henry Sibley.
