Ione Risting, 71

Ione Risting, a resident of Little Falls, died May 24, 2007, at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls.


Funeral services were held May 29 at First Lutheran Church in Little Falls with Pastor Nate Bjorge officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls.


Ione was born Jan. 26, 1936, in Minneota, to the late Nels and Grace Myhre. She attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Minneota High School in 1953. After high school she attended Mankato State College for two years. She was united in marriage to Darwin Risting Aug. 25, 1956, at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota. The couple lived in Brownton, where she worked as a lab technician at the local clinic. Ione and Darwin moved to Little Falls in 1969 where they raised their two children Tim and Angie. She was a stay at home mom, raising her two children and later spending time with her grandchildren. Ione really enjoyed sewing, knitting, embroidery and needle work. She quilted a quilt for each one of her grandchildren and children. Ione was active in two birthday clubs with her lady friends and enjoyed gardening and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and family.


Ione is survived by husband Darwin Risting of Little Falls; son Tim Risting and wife Michelle of Elk River; daughter Angie Murphy and husband Tim of St. Michael; grandchildren, Tara, Maia, Mitchell, Alison, Meghan and Mackenzie; brothers Gerald Myhre and wife Shirley of Tracy, Nels Myhre Jr. and wife Pat of Minneota; sisters Doris Younquist and husband Dave of Annandale, Karen Schmit and husband Gary of Rochester and Sheree Hoffman and husband Ken of Eagan.


Ione was preceded in death by her parents and two infant grandchildren.


Casketbearers were Jerome Haaland, Kenny Bergren, Wayne Liljegren, Darrell Larsen, Denny Larsen, Shawn Larsen and Larry Sharon.
