Hands of Hope would like to thank the organizations, businesses and individuals who sponsored Christmas families this year: IWCO, US Bank employees, Father Pierz School of Religion, Episcopal Church, Swanville Women’s Civic Club and Cathy Hartle and family. Through your generosity we were able to serve eight women and 21 children. With all your help Christmas was made a lot brighter for these families.—Kim Yandell, Hands of Hope Resource Center.

The Richardson Lakes Area Lions Club would like to thank everyone in the community that purchased a Christmas tree, wreaths, swags and crosses and came out to enjoy the free sleigh rides with Santa at the Holiday Store. Was 2005 a good year locally? What is hoped for in 2006? Posed by the Record news staff, a number of local officials offered their thoughts and answers to the two questions.

Deanna Vickstrom has always wanted to adopt a sibling group, she didn’t care where they were from. Ever since her last child was born 12 years ago, it has been her dream. “I talked about it to anyone who would listen,” said Deanna. “My husband, Ron, was too busy with road construction and with building homes for him to think much about it. But I kept bringing it up and he finally came around.”

Susann Tonne, 16, is spending almost one year of her young life in Little Falls as an exchange student from a suburb of Berlin, Germany. She is lucky enough to get to live with the Tom and Amy Deml family, for they have two daughters close to Susann’s age. Molly is 15 and Marissa is 13.

Grace Clara Reed, a resident of Royalton, died at the Pierz Villa in Pierz on Dec. 27, 2005.

Edna M. Martinson, a resident of Little Falls, died Dec. 27, 2005, at Lutheran Care Center.
