Attack leaves boy a quadriplegic
The condition of 10 year-old Russell Lala of Royalton, attacked by both a lion and a tiger on the evening of June 22, has been upgraded from critical to serious. However, his injuries include some damage to his brain, numerous facial fractures and a severed spinal cord. The latter could leave him a quadriplegic for life and dependent on a respirator.
