After coming away with a pair of conference wins against Sauk Centre and Apollo, the Flyers struggled through the first period and change. “South came out fired up and we started off really slow and were lucky to get out with a win,” said Flyer Senior Steve Festler, who added that he knew they had a chance after the two wins last week.

Scoreless through the first period the second opened up as the Flyers took a 3-1 lead into the second intermission.

“Our preparation before the game wasn’t good. I think we took the game too easy and the kids know that. We’ll be better prepared from now on,” said Flyer Head Hockey Coach Tony Couture after the game. As for Mikael Lickteig he realized the team wasn’t really prepared for the game. “During the first intermission Coach was telling us to pick it up, which we did. But they weren’t a physical team. South was a hook and hold team,” said Lickteig.
