Baseball enthusiast receives Michael Downs Memorial Award

Paul Froncak was named the Michael Downs Memorial Award winner for 2003 by the Minnesota Baseball Association during its annual meeting at the Sauk Rapids American Legion, Oct. 18.

“It shocked the living heck out of me,” said Froncak after hearing his name read aloud as the award recipient at the conclusion of the awards ceremony. “I wanted to get out of there to catch the opening game of the world series. So when I got it, I thought they were pulling my leg, because there are so many more deserving people than myself for the award. I’m too young to be getting this.”
