Commissioners conduct meeting at Royalton High School

Keeping with the tradition of holding two meetings a year outside the Government Center, the Morrison County Commissioners headed south to Royalton Tuesday.

Using the high school library for a meeting room the commissioners conducted their regular meeting in front of approximately 35 students and staff.

Business that came before the commissioners included:

• Approving an establishment license for Troy Nouis/Nouis Home Care for adding three units/lodging;

• Receiving a report from Treasurer Carol Specker that interest rates as of Oct. 30 were 2.16 – 3.25 percent for CDs. This is down from an average of 6.85 percent in 2001;

• Approving a resolution to proceed with the reconstruction of CR 273 from CSAH 51 to the Crow Wing County line as a part of the 2001 construction program;

• Authorizing the acquisition of property by eminent domain to acquire right-of-way on CR 273. The right-of-way property in question is owned by Henry and Camille Dombovy, Pierz;

• Passing a resolution on behalf of Heartland Concrete Products, Inc. for a State of Minnesota Challenge Grant appropriation through the Initiative Foundation;

• Approving the revised Great River Regional Library service agreement. The only change is the the City of St. Cloud is no longer is a member. Its share was picked up by Stearns and Benton Counties;

• Approving a gambling permit for the Lake Sullivan property owners to hold ongoing gambling at Capp’s and the Channel Inn Resort.

The next regular meeting of the Morrison County Commissioners will be Nov. 6.
