Concerts in the Park to feature trio

A St. Cloud trio will play for a Concert in the Park in Little Falls on July 8.

Dean Severson, Mike Sharp and Chris Laumb, three musicians from the St. Cloud area, will perform together at Concerts in the Park at Maple Island Park in Little Falls, starting at 4 p.m. The trio, which came together especially for this performance, will crank out a mix of music from Western swing to folk to blues.

Dean Severson plays acoustic guitar and dobro but is a former pedal steel player, where he learned to love swing music—especially Bob Wills. Dean is a self-described “old folkie” who was “converted” by the country/folk music of Jerry Jeff Walekr and slowly worked his way into Western swing music. Mike Sharp, who plays guitar and harmonica, focuses on folk music and union tunes. Chris Laumb plays a Stratocaster and will add a blues element to the mix.

The first ever Little Falls Wellness Festival is taking place at Maple Island Park on Sunday, July 1, from 2 to 5 p.m. Irish music will be provided by Todd Menton and Triall Ro-Crua there will be a wealth of information on health, wellness and nutrition topics from several local non-profit service organizations.

This year’s Concerts in the Park are made possible by funding from the Little Falls Exchange Club and advertising support from Bookin’ It Bookstore in Little Falls. The public is invited to attend the weekly concerts at Maple Island Park free of charge. In case of rain, this concert will be held at the Black and White Hamburger Shop.
