Irish eyes will be smilin’ at house concert

Central Minnesota is in for a special treat. A talented St. Paul musician will be performing in Little Falls on March 9 as part of the Little Falls House Concert Series.

Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, Irish folk artist Laura MacKenzie brings with her a wealth of experience in traditional Irish music. This special Irish concert will be performed at Jason’s Casual Dining. The evening will start with a 7 p.m. social with a show time of 7:30 p.m.

MacKenzie’s credits include traveling with Lorie Line as part of her Pop Chamber Orchestra, playing for Minnesota Public Radio’s “Prairie Home Companion,” teaming up with Katie McMahon, the lead singer from “Riverdance,” and performing with Boiled in Lead. She also collaborated with Frank McCourt, author of Angela’s Ashes for a stage production. Other stage credits include time with the Guthrie Theatre and the Children’s Theatre Company.

A unique folk artist, MacKenzie has mastered several traditional instruments from Ireland, Scotland, England and France. Besides being an accomplished vocalist, she specializes in a variety of folk instruments including the medieval greatpipes, Scottish smallpipes, border bagpipes, the wooden concert flute, tin whistles, cornemuse and the concertina. Her numerous talents will blow her audience away.

Admission for this special Irish House Concert is $7 for adults and $3 for children under the age of 12.
